Creative People Must Be Stopped: 6 Ways We Kill Innovation (Without Even Trying)

Creative People Must Be Stopped: 6 Ways We Kill Innovation (Without Even Trying)

A framework for overcoming the six types of innovation killers
Everybody wants innovation—or do they? Creative People Must Be Stopped shows how individuals and organizations sabotage their own best intentions to encourage "outside the box" thinking. It shows that the antidote to this self-defeating behavior is to identify which of the six major types of constraints are hindering innovation: individual, group, organizational, industry-wide, societal, or technological. Once innovators and other leaders understand exactly which constraints are working against them and how to overcome them, they can create conditions that foster innovation instead of stopping it in its tracks.
The author's model of constraints on innovation integrates insights from the vast literature on innovation with his own observations of hundreds of organizations. The book is filled with assessments, tools, and real-world examples.
The author's research has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, London Guardian and San Jose Mercury News, as well as on Fox News and on NPR's Marketplace
Includes illustrative examples from leading organizations
Offers a practical guide for bringing new ideas to fruition even within a previously rigid organizational culture
This book gives people in organizations the conceptual framework and practical information they need to innovate successfully.

UPDATE ON BLACKY... At 5.36pm.. 8/7/2011.....
Blacky still continues to cough really bad during the day / night he's not getting much sleep.... He's still eating, drinking, peeing, and taking the 1/2 a tablet each night, he's only got 5 whole tablets left... But he does have diarrhea again , but that's because of the antibiotics (i think)....

What My Sister Updated Me On "Lung Worm". .
I spoke to my sister last night after i SMS her on Blacky's condition... She informed me the reason Blacky is coughing is because of the worms that are inside Blackys lungs and they are tickling him as they eat away at the tissue very slowly, and by him coughing he's trying to bring them up....And i also found out too the "cat grass" I was giving Blacky might have carried the Larvae eggs on them or transferred through the soil they planted the grass in so i've stopped giving it to him.... Plus also for the last 4weeks we have had a leaking toilet that had leaked sewerage on the floor, i have been on the landlords back about this since it happened, so i think also Blacky might have also got in their walked over it with him paws and then licked it off later... But the toilet is fixed after i finally took it to the "tribunal" for renter's and the judge order it to be fixed within 1 hour after the matter was heard..... Plus my family pet dog named "Charlie" he ended up with "heart worm " and "Lung Worm" after being attacked by another animal and he suffered a major "heart attack" whilst been treated..... So that's the latest update on my baby boy Blacky...... Thanks for all the kind comments and sweet concerns for Blacky ..... Cheers Michelle Champaz and Blacky xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox...

Day Thirty Five

Day Thirty Five

There really is no stopping her. She totally climbed over me today to get where she wanted to go...

It was an off day for Brandi. Her work went to Whistler for lunch so she got to sleep in a little bit more than usual (only an hour or so) and left home at 8 to catch her bus.

After breakfast we went for a little walk, I planned on going to the sandwich place but as it started to look like rain I cancelled that plan and headed home. Sadly it did not rain and we ended up spending the day at home. An amusing thing about the walk is Isobel was totally singing to herself/me the entire time. It was all ohhhh ahhh ahhh ohhhh owww ohhh awwww owww. It was a little amusing and weird.

She was also really tired and if she wasn't eating she was sleeping it seemed like. We did play a bunch but she was also rubbing her face and yawning. I wonder if she's going through a growth spurt and needs to sleep a lot for her body to do the growing. Brandi got home at 4:30 and video chatted with her mom. I managed to get a couple loads of baby laundry done as well as deal with the dishwasher. Now just need to get some adult laundry and do some vacuuming so the baby doesn't grab the crap on our floor.

WOW raid night again. Deeper into Ulduar we went and finally at the end of the night managed to bring down our 4th boss Kolgarn. He dropped the uber robe that I'm really jonesing for and Brandi won the roll. Out of 100 I rolled a 1 >_<

Just as we finished up and Brandi went to bed and I sat down to type this Isobel woke up. So Brandi's feeding her now and I'ma hit save and straighten the photo a bit. Brandi laughs that I'm always straightening things. I don't know why but crooked walls and things bother me when it's not deliberate.

Christ Stopped At Eboli - The Story Of A Year

CHRIST STOPPED AT EBOLI- THE STORY OF A YEAR by CARLO LEVI. Because of his uncompromising opposition to Fascism, Carlo Levi was banished at the start of the Abyssinian War ( 1935) to a small primitive village in Lucania, a remote province of southern Italy. In this region, which remains unknown not only to tourists but also to the vast majority of Italians, Carlo Levi, a painter, doctor, and writer, lived out a memorable time. Many years have gone by, years ol war and of what men call History. Buffeted here and there at random I have not been able to return to my peasants as I promised when I left them, and I do not know when, if ever, I can keep my promise. But closed in one room, in a world apart, I am glad to travel in my memory to that other world, hedged in by custom and sorrow, cut off from History and the State, eternally patient, to that land without comfort or solace, where the peasant lives out his motionless civilization on barren ground in remote poverty, and in the presence of death, We're not Christians, they say. Christ stopped short of here, at Eboli. Christian, In their way of speaking means human being, and this almost proverbial phrase that I have so often heard them repeat may be no more than the expression of a hopeless feeling of inferiority. We're not Christians, we're not human beings; we're not thought of as men but simply as beasts, beasts of burden, or even less than beasts, mere creatures of the wild. They at least live for better or for worse, like angels or demons, in a world of their own, while we have to submit to the world of Christians, beyond the horizon, to carry its weight and to stand comparison with it. But the phrase has a much deeper meaning and, as is the way of symbols, this is the literal one. Christ did stop at Eboli, where the road and the railway leave the coast of Salerno and turn into the desolate reaches of Lucania. Christ never came this far, nor did time, nor the individual soul, nor hope, nor the relation of cause to effect, nor reason nor history. Christ never came, just as the Romans never came, content to garrison the highways without pene trating the mountains and forests, nor the Greeks, who flour ished beside the Gulf of Taranto. None of the pioneers of Western civilization brought here his sense of the passage of time, his deification of the State or that ceaseless activity which feeds upon itself. No one has come to this land except as an enemy, a conqueror, or a visitor devoid of understand ing. The seasons pass today over the toil of the peasants, just as they did three thousand years before Christ; no message, human or divine, has reached this stubborn pov erty. We speak a different language, and here our tongue is incomprehensible. The greatest travelers have not gone beyond the limits of their own world; they have trodden the paths of their own souls, of good and evil, of morality and redemption. Christ descended into the underground hell of Hebrew moral principle in order to break down its doors In time and to seal them up into eternity. But to this shadowy land, that knows neither sin nor redemption from sin, where evil is not moral but is only the pain residing forever in earthly things, Christ did not come. Christ stopped at Eboli. I ARRIVED at Gagliano one August afternoon in a rat tling little car, I was wearing handcuffs and I was escorted by two stalwart servants of the State with vertical red bands on their trousers, and expressionless faces. I arrived reluc tantly and ready for the worst, because sudden orders had caused me to leave Grassano where I had been livin
